Radiating Star Blanket

Description

I've been a busy little bee this summer, finishing up two blankets. Seeing as last year it took me like 2 months just to stitch together my first blanket. Today's blanket is the Radiating Star Blanket ( www.ravelry.com/patterns/libra… ). It was knit up with 2 pounds of worsted weight cotton yarn (Rather than the chunky yarn the pattern calls for) It is about 5 ft in diameter and it is an absolutely wonderful summer blanket. Since it's made with cotton yarn it's much lighter and cooler than an acrylic or wool blanket would be. So it's not all hot and heavy when you want something covering your legs in the middle of August.
Also, I've discovered that circular blankets are absolutely wonderful because you can curl up any which way you want and not have to worry about the blanket not covering you or leaving half your leg exposed and cold. It's awesome.
I also really like how the spin of the color changes in the yarn move opposite of the spin of the blanket. I think it makes a bit of a cool visual effect.
Yeah, you get another picture of a pinned out blanket 1. so you can really see the pattern and 2. because I can't be bothered to take the blanket and attempt to do something nice with it to take a picture. I'll probably get a decent picture soon and change them out. I've just realized that in this one the colors look much darker than they really are because the blanket is soaking wet from color fasting. Oh well.
